Mrs. Lydia Nyesigomwe is the founding Director of Parenting Uganda and currently serves as the Country Director of Holt International Children’s services based in Ntinda Kampala Uganda. She has worked and served with national and international children’s organizations for over 20 years with experience and expertise in areas like; organizational leadership and Management, Child Care & Development, Child Rights Protection, and Advocacy.
Mrs. Lumonya is a Master’s degree holder in Business Administration from the Eastern and Southern African Management Institute (ESAMI). She also has a bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication degree from Makerere University (1994). She is also a chartered marketer, certified balanced champion, and an African Board Fellow. She also undertook a course “Market Driving Forces”, at the London Business School in 2013.
Birungi started as a newspaper reporter, reporting for the Weekly Topic Newspaper, (today the Daily Monitor). She then joined Nile Breweries Limited, working there for ten years, in different roles, including as brand manager, advertising executive, public relations officer, and media manager.
In 2004, she left Nile Breweries and joined Uganda National Social Security Fund (NSSF) where she served in various roles, including as public relations executive, marketing manager, and head of marketing and communications. She spent 10 years at NSSF.
In 2014, she was appointed National Director of the SOS Children’s Villages Uganda, an NGO. In November 2021, Birungi was appointed to a four-year term as the deputy director-general of the Uganda Civil Aviation Authority. She is based at the organization’s headquarters in Entebbe
She is also experienced in developing and implementing strategic and business plans, customer service management, stakeholder engagement and communication, and people and performance management which puts her in good stead to add value to CAA. She has ever worked as chairperson of FINCA Uganda and also served as a member of the Board of CAA in the period between March 2014 and March 2020.
Mr. Timothy is a holder of a bachelor’s degree in Social Work Degree from Makerere University, Kampala, a master’s degree in Development Studies from the University College of Dublin, a Post Graduate Diploma in Leadership and Community Development from Eastern and Southern Africa Management Institute in Arusha, Tanzania. He is a graduate of the Future Leaders Program, Resource Alliance at Wolfson College, Oxford University, and a recipient of the MASHAV scholarship in Development of Children, Social-Emotional Support and Wellbeing, from Haifa University, Israel. He is currently pursuing his Doctorate degree in Social Work and Social Development at Makerere University in Uganda and the University of Agder in Norway. His research interests include; early childhood education and development, child/adolescent mental health, violence against children, and community and national child protection systems as protective factors for the development and well-being of children and families.
Mr. Opobo is currently serving as the Executive Director of the AfriChild Centre based at Makerere University convenes academics, policymakers, and practitioners to promote innovative research, nurture communities of learning, build the next generation of researchers, and contribute to policy and practice on the wellbeing of the African child. As the Executive Director of AfriChild Centre, he provides requisite strategic leadership and oversees the implementation of the organization’s strategic plan through a multidisciplinary and multi-institutional approach that influences the policy and practice discourse on child well-being by generating research evidence
For the past 15 years, he has contributed to positively influencing the child well-being landscape in Uganda, the region, and globally. He defines his niche in the areas of child-focused social research, project/program design, management, policy advocacy as well as networking with state and non-state actors. He is a senior member of the inter-ministerial committee on violence against children, overseeing all research aspects related to the implementation of the National Child Policy. He has also served on several other committees such as; the national multisectoral task force on violence against children, the national steering committee on justice for children, the national child protection working group, and the joining forces network.
He is instrumental in the inception of the AfriChild Centre serving as the interim Executive Director from March 2014 to December 2015, where he set up organizational structures and systems, and coordinated the first-ever National Violence Against Children Survey in Uganda. He was a member of the management team, and child protection focal person of the Africa region, served as the Coordinator of the Global Child Protection in Crisis Network in Uganda (CPCN), a global learning mechanism to strengthen and systemize child protection in crisis settings through the collaborative action of humanitarian agencies, local institutions, and academic partners. In the regional African Network for Prevention and Protection Against Child Abuse and Neglect (ANPPCAN), he was also the Research, Information, and Policy Advocacy Manager in both Uganda and Liberia, providing technical and management leadership, and working closely with other advocacy agencies and governments to influence policy.
Mr. Brian B. Mukalazi is a Ugandan executive with over 12 years of hands-on experience in Leadership, Consulting, and Finance with a reputable record of success in the Public, Private, Development, and Humanitarian sectors.
Brian is a respected leader with superb interpersonal skills and a proven ability to flawlessly implement innovative strategies and manage multiple tasks effectively. He is also an analytical and strategic thinker with the highest standards of professionalism and personal integrity.
He is the Country Director for Every Child Ministries – Uganda and he also serves as the Director of Audit & Assurance Services at Springs & Tugye Associates LLP Certified public accountants.
Brian is a Co-founder and CEO of Talis Consults Ltd, an Innovation-driven Consulting Firm that seeks to help organizations, businesses, and people to be significantly more efficient, effective, and financially sustainable.
Brian is a holder of a bachelor’s degree in Commerce (Accounting) from Makerere University Kampala (2010), completed his Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA UK) Certificate in 2014, and is currently completing his master’s degree in Business Administration (Project Management) at Makerere University.
Brian also currently serves as the Board Chairperson for Intercontinental Insurance Brokers Limited. He also served as a Board Advisor at SAS Hospital Kampala in 2018, Board Treasurer at Concern for Rural lives in 2017, and a Trainer at the Uganda Institute of Banking and Finance between 2019 and 2020.
Mrs. Stella Ayo-Odongo holds a bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences from Makerere University, a Diploma in Development Management from the Open University (U.K), and a Master of Science Degree in Development Management from the Open University (U.K). In addition, she holds post-graduate certificates in; Capacities for Managing Development, Development Context and Practice, Environmental Decision Making, and Institutional Development from the Open University. She has also undertaken training programs in NGO Management, and Financial Management for Non- Financial Managers. Stella currently serves as the Director of Path Finding Global partnership to end violence against children.
Stella Ayo-Odongo has worked in the Development field for over 10 years and has acquired considerable experience in the development practice. Stella has a good understanding of the development context at community, national, regional, and international levels. She has had hands-on experience as a Researcher, Community Development Worker, Trainer, Legislative and Policy Advocate, Networker, Development Manager, and Consultant.
Besides obtaining vast experience, Stella Ayo-Odongo has clear knowledge and understanding of the principles and approaches of good governance and participatory and rights-based approaches. In addition to the above, Stella has extensive management experience and has worked at the senior management level for at least 5 years as the Executive Director of Uganda Child Rights NGO Network, a national network of child-focused organizations in Uganda.
Stella has also served on the Boards/Management Committees of several national organizations and played a representational role. She has been actively involved in forming, managing, and steering various coalitions at the national level. She has been very instrumental in the formation of the Civil Society Organizations for Peace in Northern Uganda an advocacy coalition for a peaceful resolution to the 20-year conflict that has gone on in Uganda.
Ms. Marjorie is a holder of a Master’s degree in Business Leadership at the School of Business Leadership University of South Africa (2016), and a bachelor’s degree in Hotel Management at Makerere University Business School (2001). She is a Scholar with the Global Entrepreneurship Institute (GEI) 2023, and an alumnus of the Evolving Woman Courses EZER Cohort 5 2022. She has lived and worked in Uganda, Zimbabwe, and South Africa and several years ago traveled with the Watoto Children’s Choirs to the United States talking and singing about the plight of Ugandan Children.
Marjorie Kasozi Sseruwo is an Author and Publisher of Lessons from my Father; she is passionate about strong families and communities. She lives to edify and uplift the broken-hearted through song and behavioral change communication. She helps young people to espouse character and sound judgment to make day-to-day choices that will enable them to persevere in life. She also loves to worship the Lord in song.
Marjorie currently serves as the Executive Director at Concern for the Girl Child and an Associate Director at FHK Foundation, both family-founded organizations. As the Executive Director she is the vision bearer and sharer through mentoring and communication to all staff and stakeholders; The Vision, Mission Core Values, and Goals of CGC lead in Programme development and alignment to the strategic plan, networking, collaborations and advocacy with strategic partners, supports grants and partnerships enhancement to increase the funding base of the organization.
Mrs. Marjorie has also worked as a Business Process Development Consultant at R&O International(2019), Etiquette Trainer part-time, Behavioural Change Communication and Life Skills Trainer at Always Right Kampala (2016 to date), Senior program officer at Concern for the Girl Child (2015), Project Coordinator Concern for the girl child – EMPOWER (Ending Marginalization and Promoting the Rights of Children) Project Funded by Save the Children International (2010-2011), Child Sponsorship Coordinator/ Singer and Caregiver at Watoto Child Care Ministries Uganda (2004), and Business Development Executive at AITEC (African IT Exhibitions and Conferences) Uganda ( 2002- 2004).
Mr.Lauben is a holder of a bachelor’s degree in Education from Makerere University (2008), a diploma in secondary education from National Teachers college Nkozi (2002), Master of Arts in Development Studies at Nkozi University (2015).
Lauben has also attained various certificates from different institutions; a Certificate in Youth contributing to Poverty reduction at LSU –Sweden & Youth Alive in Nairobi –Kenya (2010), a Certificate in Men to Men Strategy on prevention of Domestic Violence in Communities at FEMNET –Uganda /Kenya ECCA Partnership (2010), Certificate in Gender Based Violence Prevention at World Vision Uganda, Certificate inYouth & Poverty Reduction Strategies at UNFPA (2009), Certificate in Advocacy Expert Series at Dan Church Aid and Development Research and Training (2007), Certificate in Proposal Writing at ANNPCAN Uganda (2005).
Mr.Lauben currently serves as the Executive Director of Child Aid Uganda based at Lyantonde and works in other districts like Sembabule, Rakai, Kyotera, and Lwengo. As the Executive Director, he is Responsible for the management of grants and implementation of all lawful decisions taken by the organization’s general assembly and board of directors, Designing, innovating, and developing project proposals, securing funds from lawful sources, and managing the implementation of projects for the growth and development of the organization.
Lauben also currently serves as the Treasurer at Lyantonde NGO Forum, a Polio plus Ambassador at the Rotary Club of Lyantonde Metropolitan, a Steering Committee Member on the Elimination of Child Labour and all forms of Child Abuse at the Ministry of Gender Labour and Social Development and a Member of Children Rights and Justice Cluster / Group at Freedom House –USAID Rights and Justice Activity (RAJA), and International Research Fellow at World Engagement Institute (USA).
Mr. Wamara is a holder of a bachelor’s degree in Ethics and Development Studies from Uganda Martyrs University. He has over 10 years of experience in Child Rights, and organizational development with a special interest in international relations, public relations, and company profiling/ branding and maintenance at the high lead level. He holds high ethical values everywhere he represents himself and the organization he works for.
Damon currently serves as the Executive Director of the Uganda Child Rights NGO Network based in Kampala Uganda. As the Executive Director, he is responsible for the overall leadership and management at the UCRNN Secretariat, development, coordination, and promotion of UCRNN Programs and activities, provision of technical support to the board as well as the implementation of the decisions of the Board of Directors. This network has 200 Child Rights Focused organizations under his leadership.
He holds various leadership positions like; Chairpersons of the board of directors for ACRWC CSO-Forum & the Eastern Africa Child Rights Network, Vice Chairperson of the collation of Trafficking in persons – Uganda. He is also a member of the Baylor Uganda Advisory Council, & a member of the National Taskforce of Trafficking in Persons – Uganda.
In 2020, he was the recipient of the Iqbal Masih Award for the Elimination of Child Labor from the Department of Labor – United States of America and
Nominee for the European Union’s Human Rights Defenders Award 2020.
On the 26th of Feb 2022, Damon was awarded the “outstanding Alumni award” and bestowed the Diamond Ambassador award by Uganda Martyrs University and its Alumni Association for being the Light in the world and for efforts to end all forms of Violence against Children including Child trafficking & child labor.
